SmartGuide™ a mini-magazine within CareerFOCUS™ is a quarterly insert
available only on assignment from the executive editor. SmartGuide™ topics
are generally 2,000 to 3,000 words in length and cover how-to topics of
interest to new and rising professionals. Freelancers who have demonstrated
writing skills compatible with the CareerFOCUS audience are eligible for
assignment. If you have a unique idea for SmartGuide™, please feel free to
query CF online at editorial@careerfocusmagazine.com. No mail. No phone
calls.
Where to Start
- It's a good idea to read an issue of the magazine (print or online) before
sending a query.
- Queries should summarize and describe the topic clearly and succinctly.
Avoid vagueness and generalities. Be as specific as possible about what
aspects and slant of the subject you will cover, evidence of sources, people
you will interview, how the story will help our readers, and why you're
qualified to write it.
